Car Bearing Maintenance Need to Know
You know the reason why the car can move, in addition to relying on the tires, more important is the car bearings. In the process of using car bearings, it needs to add lubricant constantly, if there is no lubricant help, the rotational speed will be affected, and the bearings also have a service life, so how many years is the service life of car bearings?
If a vehicle’s wheel bearing is damaged while driving, it often produces a humming noise that gets louder as the speed increases. To test this, you can accelerate the car to a certain speed and then let it coast in neutral. If the humming noise remains unchanged, it's likely that the wheel bearing is faulty.
So how can wheel bearings be properly maintained in daily life?
1.Always use specialized tools when removing the wheel hub bearing:This is especially important. Also, when removing the tire, be careful not to damage the thread on the wheel bolts. For disc brakes, remove the brake caliper first, then use proper tools to take off the locking ring or pin.
2.When cleaning out old grease:use a suitable cleaning agent and wipe everything dry with a clean cloth. Make sure the inner cavity of the bearing is also thoroughly wiped.
3.Inspect the wheel bearing and bearing race: for any cracks or looseness. If any issues are found, the bearing should be replaced immediately.
4.Don’t forget to check the fit between the inner diameter of the bearing and the axle journal:The clearance should not exceed 0.10 mm. When measuring the axle journal, check both the upper and lower positions perpendicular to the ground. If the fit exceeds the specified clearance, replace the bearing to restore the proper tolerance.
